Champions League Draw Review

GROUP A
1. CFR 1907 Cluj
2. Chelsea FC
3. FC Girondins de Bordeaux
4. AS Roma
Analysis: Dangerous Roma presents a threat to Chelsea at the top, but there's no stopping the Blues here.

GROUP B
1. Anorthosis
2. Panathinaikos FC
3. FC Internazionale Milano
4. Werder Bremen
Analysis: Mourinho's group is a breeze. Bremen and Panathinaikos battle for second behind Inter.

GROUP C
1. Sporting Clube
2. FC Basel 1893
3. FC Shakhtar Donetsk
4. FC Barcelona
Analysis: Barca draws well. Sporting may finally escape the group stage, having beaten Basel in the UEFA Cup last year, 5-0. Shaktar may have something to say there as well.

GROUP D
1. Liverpool FC
2. PSV Eindhoven
3. Club Atlético de Madrid
4. Olympique de Marseille
Analysis: The group of death, pretty tight fit here with Liverpool, PSV, Atletico and Marseille trading blows. This could come down to some tie-breakers.

GROUP E
1. Aalborg BK
2. Manchester United FC
3. Villarreal CF
4. Celtic FC
Analysis: Aalborg guarantees three points for the remainder of the group. United favored with Villareal edging Celtic? Maybe?

GROUP F
1. ACF Fiorentina
2. FC Steaua Bucuresti
3. FC Bayern München
4. Olympique Lyonnais
Analysis: Bayern returns to the Champions League and hits formidable opponents at all turns. Lyon and Bayern cannot afford a slip.

GROUP G

1. Arsenal FC
2. FC Porto
3. Fenerbahçe SK
4. FC Dynamo Kyiv
Analysis: Fenerbahce snuck into the final eight last year, but Arsenal and Porto may not permit this.

GROUP H
1. FC BATE Borisov
2. Juventus
3. FC Zenit St. Petersburg
4. Real Madrid CF
Analysis: Interesting return to the Champions League for Juventus. Real Madrid gets in. Zenit and Juve will battle for second.

OBLIGATORY GROUP OF DEATH: D or F -- you choose. I'll say D.
UPSET BOUND TO HAPPEN: Zenit over Juventus for second in Group H; Sporting getting to the knockout stage.

p/s: interesting stages has yet to come...!!!!

most anticipating match (well at least for me) will be the Kop vs Atletico Madrid. It will be awkward and umm, funny at the same time watching Fernando Torres, the ex-capitan try to score against his former club, no? And much, much funnier if AM manages to trash the Kop. Hahaha.

Fine, I'm evil but then the idea of Atletico Madrid cruising the group stage by beat Liverpool to shame seems a great idea. Just sayin'...

And err, AS Roma to pose threat(s). Ummm are we talking the same Roma here?

nahh personally dun think Liverpool will crush on group stage this season...they should have the edge on the rest of them (although i would love for KOP, gunners and blues to crash out early, hehehe unlikely i guess)

Roma still pose a threat eventhough they will missed mancini, but looking at the team overall and the new acquisition such as riise and baptista, chelsea should be worried !!!!
